Expertise
Will is recognised as a specialist in complex financial claims and divorce jurisdiction and forum disputes. He has considerable experience of child abduction cases, relocation and jurisdiction disputes in children proceedings, and cases involving the international protection of vulnerable adults under the inherent jurisdiction and in the Court of Protection. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. He has advised solicitors on English law across many EU & worldwide jurisdictions and has provided both written and oral evidence to overseas courts in the course of foreign proceedings.
Having been appointed to the Attorney General’s A Panel in 2024, Will is frequently instructed by the government in cases involving family law and wider areas of public law, immigration and human rights law. He has represented the Department for Education, the Attorney General, the FCDO and overseas territories. In early 2025 he was appointed by the Attorney General to appear as Advocate to the Court, leading Sophie Cullis, in the open justice appeal concerning anonymisation of the judges who had presided over proceedings relating to Sara Sharif (Tickle and another v BBC and others [2025] Fam 105).
Will was appointed to the Attorney General’s Panel of Special Advocates in 2018. He has recently been instructed in cases arising out of the Afghan data leak, appearing as Special Advocate on behalf of a number of Afghan nationals in judicial review proceedings in the King’s Bench Division. Recent work has also included acting as one of the counsel to the Undercover Policing Inquiry.
Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, having qualified through IFLA in 2021. Will also sits frequently as a private FDR ‘judge’ / early neutral evaluator.
