Why choose us

“A pupillage at QEB offers top quality training in a busy, friendly environment.”

Law Careers.Net Handbook 2020

As one of the leading sets of family law chambers, QEB offers pupillage candidates the opportunity to work and train with some of very best legal minds at the Bar.

QEB has particular expertise in matrimonial finance. Our work typically involves individuals with substantial assets and requires analysis of complex financial information, frequently involving companies and trusts. It is not uncommon for there to be an international element to our cases and for members of Chambers to represent figures in the public eye.

A pupillage at QEB means frequent exposure to intellectually demanding work of high quality, often in developing areas of law, from the leading firms of family law solicitors.

QEB is committed to increasing access to the Bar from underrepresented groups and is involved in various internal and external projects in this regard. Chambers is a staunch believer that a diverse range of advocates is best for the law and best for our clients. Our relevant policy documents are attached for your information.

By the end of pupillage, it is expected that each pupil will have developed the professional skills which are essential to practise at the independent Bar. It is also expected that a QEB pupillage will instill the confidence which lies at the heart of a successful career as a barrister.

QEB barristers are consistently praised in Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500 and other publications as leaders in their field.

Chambers has a proud record of judicial appointments; including Lord Wilson, who retired from the Supreme Court in 2020, Lord Justice Moylan, who sits in the Court of Appeal, and Mrs Justice Roberts, who sits in the High Court. James Ewins KC was recently appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge. Sir Alan Ward, Sir David Bodey and Sir Paul Coleridge are retired judges of the Court of Appeal and High Court who return to Chambers to sit as private FDR judges or arbitrators: Chambers’ pupils find all of them very approachable.
