“Long held reputation for excellence.”

Chambers & Partners 2019

QEB has been established for well over 100 years and is consistently rated as one of the top-ranking sets for family law. Many members are listed as leaders in their field in the annual publications of Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.

QEB today

QEB has been praised for being forward-looking and client focused. Chambers has expanded premises to provide more conference rooms and enhanced facilities for private FDRs and other forms of dispute resolution including arbitration, mediation and collaborative law.

QEB in the past

QEB barristers have appeared in many of the most significant matrimonial and children law cases reported in the last 25 years. We have been instrumental in forging the law in these areas.

QEB and the judiciary

Many of our members have gone on to high judicial office. Former QEB barristers who are currently members of the senior judiciary are Lord Justice Moylan in the Court of Appeal, and Mr Justice Holman and Mrs Justice Roberts in the Family Division of the High Court. Lord Wilson retired in 2020 as a Supreme Court Justice.

Associate members conducting private FDRs

Associate members of QEB, such as Sir Alan Ward (a retired Court of Appeal Judge), Sir Paul Coleridge (a retired High Court Judge) and Sir David Bodey (a retired High Court Judge) are available to conduct private FDRs in Chambers, as are many of our KCs and experienced junior barristers.

A number of our barristers also sit in a judicial capacity on a part-time basis, as recorders or deputy district judges.
