If you are thinking of a career at the Family Bar, a mini-pupillage at QEB is a great way to start. It provides you with an introduction to one of the country’s very top family law sets.
The Application Process
Applications for a mini-pupillage at QEB should be made using the form below.

Minimum requirements
You must have commenced or concluded further education.
You must be 18 years of age or older.
Application windows
We consider applications for mini-pupillage on 3 occasions each year:
- Applications received between 1st March and 30th June each year will be considered for mini-pupillage in the following October, November, and December.
- Applications received between 1st July and 30th October each year will be considered for mini-pupillage in the following January, February, and March.
- Applications received between 1st November and 28 February each year will be considered for mini-pupillage in the following April, May, and June.
You will be informed of the outcome of your application within 2 weeks of the closing date for each window.
Mini-pupillage
Mini-pupils generally spend three days in chambers. The aim is for you to experience the range of work covered by chambers, and mini-pupils can expect to accompany barristers to court and sit in on their cases and conferences.

Virtual Advocacy Exercise
In addition to spending time in Chambers, all mini-pupils will be invited to attend a one-day remote experience (by Zoom video-link) in which they will have the opportunity to participate in a mock court exercise and a Q&A session with members of chambers.
The virtual experience will take place on 3 occasions each year. Successful applicants will be given details of the next date when informed of the outcome of their application.
Attendance at the virtual remote experience is optional and not a requirement for those wishing to undertake a mini-pupillage with QEB.
