Cara Donegan

Cara joined Chambers in 2023 after successful completion of her pupillage. She practices in all areas of private family law, with a particular focus on financial remedies.

Cara joined chambers in September 2023 after successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of William Tyzack, Charanjit Batt and Saima Younis. She has experience acting in financial remedy and private children law matters, in addition to applications under the Family Law Act 1996.

 

During her pupillage Cara assisted her supervisors and other members of chambers with several complex and high-value cases, including a final hearing in the High Court. Since joining QEB as a tenant, she has appeared in the High Court in her own right.

 

Prior to joining QEB Cara served as judicial assistant to Sir Jonathan Cohen and Mr Justice MacDonald in the High Court. Cara assisted the judges by completing legal research on complex matters of international children law and drafting decisions on applications for permission to appeal. She graduated top of her class in her law degree and came third in her year at Bar school.

Cara used to be a competitive swimmer and has worked as a swimming teacher and water polo coach. She still enjoys indoor and open-water swimming when time allows.
