“Family Silk of the Year” (Chambers & Partners 2022), Katie is well-known for her powerful advocacy, meticulous eye for detail and rigorous intellect.

Overview

Katie is highly sought after as a specialist in jurisdictional disputes, divorce financial remedies and child financial claims. A persuasive advocate with a commercial approach, her clients value her discretion.

Expertise

Katie was awarded “Family Silk of the Year” by Chambers & Partners in November 2022, and has been highly ranked by the Legal Directories as a barrister and silk for many years. She is instructed to appear in complicated international cases, involving corporate, trusts and tax issues. She specialises in jurisdictional disputes, financial applications on divorce, financial claims after overseas divorces (Part III MFPA 1984), and Children Act Schedule 1 financial applications for unmarried parents. She is instructed to advise on and draft pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements. She is well known for her expertise in high net worth cases, and represents both individuals and trustees. A tough negotiator and tenacious advocate, she quickly wins the confidence of her clients. Much of Katie’s practice takes place away from the public eye, resolving complex, often high-profile cases at private FDRs.

Katie is also a highly regarded, and much in demand, private FDR Judge. She has been described as “very quick, intellectually sharp and someone who can cut through the case and focus on the key details very quickly”, and “prepared, measured and authoritative in her style… an incredibly safe pair of hands”. Katie sits as Deputy High Court Judge (Family Division), a Recorder (SE Circuit; Family), and is a financial family Arbitrator (MCIArb).

“Katie is absolutely incredible. She is not only a truly brilliant advocate but also unfailingly has all the details of the case in her mind. Her drafting and numerical skills are second to none.”
