James has recently returned from a sabbatical from chambers; during which he was working in Bangalore, India for the International Justice Mission for the rescue and release of bonded labourers. Appointments and MembershipsJames was appointed to the C Panel of Treasury Counsel in 2001 and he represented the Queen's Proctor in several family cases.

Education James read Jurisprudence at New College, Oxford. He was awarded the Astbury Scholarship by The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 1995.

Personal Married, with four children; a keen sailor, skier and tennis player, with a couple of marathons under his belt; committed member of St Mark's Church, Battersea with a personal interest and involvement in modern anti-slavery campaigns.
