Practice profile
A family law specialist, Charles has developed an outstanding financial practice within divorce and Cohabitation, and under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. He has considerable experience in dealing with large asset cases focusing on high net- worth ancillary relief matters often involving corporate, farming and trust issues.

In addition to his financial practice he is regularly retained in highly complex care cases involving the most serious allegations of neglect or harm. His abilities were marked by his achieving silk in 2006 when he was described by Chambers and Partners as in ‘a class of his own’ and able to win ‘over the court with his eloquence and detailed preparation’. In addition Chambers and Partners said in 2009 that he was ‘a consummate advocate’ who ‘can cut to the core of an extremely complicated case’ and Solicitors warm to him as he is ‘excellent at calming down highly charged situations’.

Legal 500 highly recommend him and describe his practice as ‘dominated by high net-worth disputes’.

Charles was appointed as a Recorder in 2005 (Crown Court)(Family).
He is a member of the FLBA and is on the Family Procedure Rules Committee.
